Experience Sicily on a classic cruise named one of 50 "Tours of a Lifetime" by National Geographic Traveler.

Circumnavigate the seductive island of Sicily aboard the legendary Sea Cloud on this perennially popular cruise. Autumn, when the heat and crowds of summer are gone, is the perfect time to discover the cultural marvels of this stepping stone between Europe and Africa. Admire Sicily's diverse landscapes from the comfort of a four-masted barque, sail into her celebrated harbors, and step ashore to admire ancient temples and theaters, marvel at glittering mosaics, and visit private palazzi.

Embark Sea Cloud in Valletta, Malta, and enjoy a bon voyage toast on deck as we sail towards Sicily. Step ashore in Syracuse, once Athens' rival in wealth and culture, to discover its well-preserved Greek and Roman theaters and visit a Baroque palazzo whose owner will welcome us for a tour. Continue to Taormina for a morning stroll through this hilltop town and a visit to its ancient Greek theater, still in use. In Lipari, largest of the Aeolian Islands, the archaeological museum is a must-see, and in the capital city of Palermo, an exclusive reception at the Palazzo Gangi brings the ballroom scene from Visconti's The Leopard, filmed here, to life. From Trapani, view the Greek temple of Segesta before choosing an excursion to the medieval hilltop town of Erice or to Mazara del Vallo, home to the 2,400-year-old "Dancing Satyr," a spectacular seven-foot bronze statue. Disembark in Naples.

Optional prelude in Valletta, Malta, and optional postlude in Naples.
