Discover magnificent temples, remarkable museums, sacred sites, and culinary delights from Tokyo to Kyoto.

Subtle, arcane, and elegant, Japan is endlessly fascinating, keeping one foot rooted in the past even while she hurtles into the future. Experience this beautiful country in all her different aspects, from spiritual and traditional to modern and dynamic. Immerse yourself in the island nation's proud traditions as you discover magnificent temples, remarkable museums, sacred sites, and culinary delights from Tokyo to Kyoto. This in-depth cultural program begins in Tokyo, where we stay for four nights at the luxurious Conrad. View landmarks designed by Tadao Ando and Philippe Starck, and visit museums including the 21_21 Design Sight, created by Ando and fashion designer Issey Miyake.

Spend a night on Naoshima, the tiny fishing island that has become the country's major destination for avant-garde art. We will stay at the Benesse House, which is both a museum and a hotel. Continue to Kyoto, where accommodations are at the Hyatt Regency (or similar). Visit exquisite temples and world-class museums, and enjoy time for some independent exploration -- perhaps in the well-known geisha districts of Pontocho or Gion. Other highlights include an exclusive tea ceremony at Sagawa Art Museum, in a pavilion designed by a Raku master ceramist, and a curatorial tour of the current exhibition at Tokyo's Mori Art Museum.
