From Sketchbook to Runway: Tracing Fashion’s Cultural Story

In Paris’s storied ateliers, designers translate artistic visions into modern identity. Silk and wool, embroidery and beading, feathers and stones capture our contemporary moment, just as Renaissance painters captured biblical scenes in oils and sculptors rendered Greek myths in marble. Join Jessica, a fashion historian whose research shaped exhibitions at The Met’s Costume Institute—from Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty to Camp: Notes on Fashion—as she guides you through museums, workshops, and fashion presentations during Paris Fashion Week.

Lecturer

Jessica Glasscock is an NYC based writer, lecturer, museum curator, and costume connoisseur. She has nearly 15 years of experience with the Metropolitan Museum of Art, doing research, as well as archival and exhibition-related work with The Costume Institute. She’s a part-time lecturer at the Parsons School of Design, where she’s taught engaging classes such as Fashion & Futurism and Fashion Curation. Jessica is a book lover and accomplished author, sharing her expertise and historical knowledge with titles such as Wigging Out and Making a Spectacle. An NYU alumni, Jessica received a BA in English Literature and a Masters in Visual Culture.
