In historic cities like Lisbon, Porto, and Guimarães, experience Portugal’s Manueline masterpieces, modernist icons, and royal estates with artist and art historian Madeline Díaz.

Your adventure in Portugal begins in the cobblestone streets of Lisbon. Enjoy visits to the UNESCO-listed Mosteiro dos Jerónimos and Torre de Belém, followed by a tour of a renowned installation artist’s private studio. Visit the 17th-century Palácio Marquês da Fronteira, then continue to the well-preserved medieval Palácio Nacional de Sintra, with time to explore the charming city of Sintra at leisure. After a stop in Tomar, continue to Porto to explore the Casa de Serralves, an icon of the Art Deco movement, then participate in a private tour and wine tasting at the prestigious Taylor’s Cellar. Board a traditional Portuguese rabelo boat and glide through the tranquil waters as you take in scenic views of the Douro Valley. Madeline Diaz

Lecturer

Madeline Diaz is an artist, art historian, and educator working across France, Spain, and the United States. With more than two decades of experience, she has designed innovative educational programs for major museums and cultural institutions, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Cloisters, The Frick Collection, the Cooper-Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, and the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Latino. In France, she has developed signature educational programs for renowned institutions such as the Grand Palais, Musée d’Art Moderne, Centre Pompidou, and the Maison Européenne de la Photographie. As a practicing artist, her work has recently been exhibited in galleries and public spaces in Spain and Oman, including at the National Museum of Oman. She holds a BA from Brown University and an MA from Columbia University.
