Behind the Curtain: An Insider’s Look at London Theatre

Tour London’s world-renowned theater district and attend live performances. 

Led by Sarah Ream, an accomplished stage director and former director at the UK’s National Theatre, discover the magic of live London theater, attending a minimum of six major productions throughout the week. Past programs have featured future Tony Award-winning Broadway transfers and acclaimed performances from award-winning actors such as Ralph Fiennes and Rosamund Pike.

After each evening performance, join Sarah the next morning for an illuminating discussion of what you just experienced, and gain a deeper appreciation for the art of the stage in the city of Shakespeare.  

Along the way, meet with a renowned theater critic and other distinguished guests, including the talented directors, producers, and actors who will reveal secrets of the craft. Enjoy matinee performances, with free time to explore London at leisure.

Lecturer

Sarah Ream’s background in drama includes work as a theatre director and teacher for years in the United States and United Kingdom, ranging from her role as Associate Director at San Francisco’s American Conservatory theatre to Staff Director at Britain’s National Theatre. In New York, she worked in casting at the Public Theatre and directed Off-Broadway and with Juilliard’s opera students before founding her own theatre group, the Compass Theatre. She is emerita Chair of the Theatre and Dance department at Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire, where she taught for 24 years. Today, Sarah is delighted to be sharing her passion for drama with this group.
