The World Monuments Fund has recently named 10 historic monuments across the United States that “have shaped the nation’s unique history.”
Here are the destinations we’re visiting that made the list.
City of New Orleans, Louisiana
Known for the spirited season of Carnival, New Orleans was shaped by diverse cultural influences. “The historic neighborhoods of New Orleans form one of America’s most distinctive cultural landscapes,” writes the World Monuments Fund. Tour the Vernon House, a colonial-era National Historic Landmark with construction dating back to the 1700s.
